OIL FINISHES

Plain water or a mild soap mixture can also bu used. Use one teaspoon of Palmolive Soap / half galloon of warm water.

Care

Apply butcher block conditioner 2-3 times a week for the first month, then once a week for the following 5 month, and them once a month for the lifetime of the product, thereafter. A good rule of thumb is if it looks and feels dry, it most likely could use another application.

  • Shake gently before using
  • Apply with a clean soft cloth
  • Let stand for at least 20 minutes
  • Wipe off any excess and buff to a nice shine

Properly maintained wood not only increases the longevity of the piece, but also develops a natural-looking "patina" over time.

LACQUER FINISHES

Recommended Cleaning Method

To clean our lacquer finished wood furniture use a Guardsman Furniture Care Kit. This can be ordered at www.guardsman.com or by calling 1-800-253-3957. This kit contains a wood finish cleaner and a furniture polish. Use as is indicated in the directions provided by guardsman.

Alternative Cleaning Method

Please use the following if Guardsman products cannot be obtained - First remove excess particles by dusting and then you may use amixture of 50% water with %50 windex. Moisten a soft rag with this solution, ring tight and wipe down avoiding circular motions. Plain water or a mild on-alkaline soap mixture can also be used. Use one teaspoon of Palmolive Soap / half galloon of warm water. We recommend polishing our furniture with a lemon or orange oil. If a higher sheen is desired, one may use a car turtle wax, applied with a soft rag rubbing in circular motions. It should than be wiped off with a dry soft rag.

FINISHED / SMOOTH LEATHER

Recommended Cleaning Method

For regular care and cleaning, ,dust periodically with a dry cloth to remove residual dust and prevent dirt from building up. No harsh cleaners or solvent should ever be used on the leather, as they could abrade the finish or topcoat off the article.

For stubborn stains and spills, a lightly damp cloth with warm water should be blotted on the stain to lift and remove it. If this does not work, a mild soap and water solution (Palmolive or Dawn) should be mixed and then blotted to release the stain and then blot again with dry cloth. This should never be done heavily or in a scrubbing motion.

Specially formulated products such as leather cleaners and conditioners (Guardsman products) can be used to rejuvenate fine leather surfaces: however, some leathers are inherently sensitive so these products should be spot tested before overall use.

STONE TOPS

Recommended Cleaning Method

Stone tops can be cleaned quite well with lukewarm water and paper towels. However, If it is felt that a more thorough cleaning is needed, you may use 4 parts water with 1 part ammonia or commercial clear Windex with ammonia. Cleaners which also contain a sealer can be used and may be bought at home/building supply stores such as Home Depot or Lowe's.
